Nepal struck by back-2-back 2 earthquakes
On Sunday, 29th July, according to the National Centre for Seismology and Research, an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck around Jima village of the district in Mugu in Nepal at 2:34 pm on Sunday.
Another earthquake of magnitude 4.3 struck Nepal’s Mugu district the next day, i.e. Monday, which is less than 24 hours after a previous quake hit the area. The tremor was recorded at 8.39 am in the Kotdanda area of the district, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre.
Fortunately, no immediate reports of any damage caused by the two were reported.
Nepal's Mugu district, enduring two successive earthquakes in less than a day, has shaken the residents' nerves.
Frequent Earthquakes
Earthquakes are very frequent in the mountainous areas of Nepal.
The recurrent earthquakes serve as an unambiguous reminder of Nepal's vulnerability to seismic hazards in the hilly regions, where geological activity is a natural part of life.
India also feels the tremors
Nepal's earthquake tremors were also felt in Uttarakhand‘s Pithoragarh, Joshimath.
